SWSD2020 will be a different kind of conference. There will be new ways to contribute, learn and collaborate. The program is an interactive discussion. All contributions will be recorded and contribute to the final draft of the Global Agenda themes for 2020 to 2030.
One big difference about SWSD2020 is the type of contributions we're able to accept. Along with the usual sessions, workshops and panels there are 10-minute "Ted Talk" presentations, and Indigenous-led exchanges
Drawing on years of consultation with social workers across the globe, the scientific committee has distilled 14 themes as starting points for discussion, as we collaborate on the Global Social Work Agenda: 2020-30.
We're excited to let you know that our first confirmed speaker is Dr. Cindy Blackstock, a Professor of Social Work, from the Gitksan First Nation. Dr. Blackstock has been called Canada’s ‘relentless moral voice’ for the rights of Indigenous children. More keynote speakers will be announced shortly - watch this space!
SWSD2020 finalizes a global consultation process that will set the strategic priorities for the social work profession from 2020 to 2030. The fully participatory conference features input from: social workers, Indigenous peoples, educators, people who use social services, representatives from marginalized communities, politicians and world leaders who want to contribute to identifying the priorities of the social work profession and find the best possible social solutions.
